Crime

This story comes to us from Reggie Sanders:

Washington, DC -- The DC Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS) announced that a youth under the agency’s supervision who escaped from a South Carolina placement center on April 20th was taken back into custody by the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force today without incident.  The task force is made up of several state and local law enforcement agencies, including the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and the United States Marshals Service.

The youth was among four DYRS supervised youth who escaped the Palmetto Summerville Behavioral Health Center, a 60-bed, out of state, secure placement facility located in Summerville, South Carolina. Three of the four were returned to custody a short time later but the fourth youth was able to remain at-large until his eventual capture late this afternoon.

“We would like to express our appreciation to the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force as well as law enforcement authorities between Summerville, South Carolina and Washington, DC, for the safe capture of one of our youth.” stated DYRS Acting Director, Neil Stanley.
