Hit the Trail

Hit the Trail

What would you expect a four-and-three-quarter-year-old to say at the end of a four-and-a-half-mile hike that she just finished using her own two feet? “What a wonderful day,” Sofi announced when we walked past the old Tavern (that I was wishing was still a tavern) at Great Falls National Park.

Clouded Leopard Cubs Born at National Zoo’s Front Royal Campus

Clouded Leopard Cubs Born at National Zoo’s Front Royal Campus

This story comes to us from Enica R. Thompson:

A female clouded leopard at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute in Front Royal, Va., gave birth to a litter of two cubs Monday, March 28. Staff had been on a pregnancy watch of the 2-year-old Sita (SEE-ta) for one day. Sita gave birth to the first cub at 1:15 p.m. and the second cub at 1:25 p.m. The male cub weighed 9.48 ounces and the female cub weighed 7.76 ounces. This is the first litter for Sita, who came from the Nashville Zoo, and the father, 2-year-old Ta Moon (TAH-moon). The cubs are being hand-reared by SCBI staff.

Parking on the Connecticut Avenue Bridge Over Klingle Road Not Allowed

Parking on the Connecticut Avenue Bridge Over Klingle Road Not Allowed

Weekend after weekend, I have noticed car after car parked on the bridge between Cleveland and Woodley Parks.  What a phenomenon of cars all of a sudden parking all weekend long on that stretch of Connecticut Avenue between Macomb Street, NW and Devonshire Place, NW.  How did it come to never seeing a car parked there, to bumper to bumper parking all weekend long?

Graffiti In Cleveland Park

Graffiti In Cleveland Park

Never noticed this graffiti in Cleveland Park above Ardeo.  Surprising to me, just because I don't think I've ever seen any graffiti anywhere in Cleveland Park.
