Mayor Gray Signs Order Allowing Taxicab Fuel Surcharge

This story comes to us from Linda Wharton Boyd:

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Mayor Vincent C. Gray has signed an executive order authorizing a $1.00 fuel surcharge for all taxicab rides within the District of Columbia.

The charge will take effect Monday, March 28. The action follows a recommendation from the Taxicab Commission to offset the impact of the steady rise in fuel prices in the metropolitan area on taxicab operators.

Parking on the Connecticut Avenue Bridge Over Klingle Road Not Allowed

Parking on the Connecticut Avenue Bridge Over Klingle Road Not Allowed

Weekend after weekend, I have noticed car after car parked on the bridge between Cleveland and Woodley Parks.  What a phenomenon of cars all of a sudden parking all weekend long on that stretch of Connecticut Avenue between Macomb Street, NW and Devonshire Place, NW.  How did it come to never seeing a car parked there, to bumper to bumper parking all weekend long?

This story comes to us from John Lisle:

(Washington, D.C.) Capital Bikeshare has more than survived its first winter, it has thrived thanks in part to strong participation in the regional bikesharing system’s Winter Weather Warrior Contest. 900 annual members participated in the contest, taking nearly 30,000 trips in two months, and Capital Bikeshare posted near ridership totals in the month of February.

Price at The Pump Continues To Rise

The average price for one gallon of regular gasoline in D.C. right now is $3.59, according to GasBuddy.com.  The prices continue to rise, and the D.C. community is feeling the increase.

I went to the Exxon station at the corner of Connecticut and Porter streets in Cleveland Park to ask locals how the rise in gas prices is affecting them.  This particular station sells regular gas for $3.79 a gallon, even more than the District average.

Watch the video above to see their reaction.

How do you feel about the rise in gas prices?
